Couderay Waters Regional Land Trust hosted a Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin Field Trip on Saturday, July 11th, 2015. The Historic Waterway Paddle Tour took 31 participants on a 5 mile paddle from Grindstone Lake, through Mud Lake/Grindstone Creek, into Lac Courte Oreilles and across to Little Lac Courte Oreilles. Paddlers enjoyed learning about the local geography, history and natural resources of the area. Exploring the historic paddle route firsthand demonstrated the connected system of the area lakes and tributaries. Clean & healthy water, natural vegetation, the unique two-story cold water fishery, and wildlife were enjoyed and discussed. A tour of the St. Francis Mission Church rounded out the trip. The Natural Resources Foundation of WI coordinates over 150 field trips around the state, led by regional experts and organizations. Couderay Waters Regional Land Trust works with property owners who are interested in protecting the natural values of their property, and connects outdoor enthusiasts through education and experiences.
